2nd few rooms to view

After another weekend and public holiday with a lot of drilling and arranging I can proudly show you NiKos bedroom. Jana and NiKo instantly moved in to the lower bed level and use it as their reading corner now.

With a few paintings the living / dining area looks very different.

The guest room in the sleeping wing is ready, the other one is short of a little desk and is used as laundry at the moment. I was buying some quilt covers, after our time in Singapore they were all gone and nights here get really cold.

Enhancements

Today a solar water heater got installed on our roof. So our hot water will be heated by sun whenever possible, the funny construction directs the heater north to get optimal sun exposure.

As mentioned earlier we also have a solar pool heater, the pool water runs through small black tubes to get warmer before being pumped back into the pool.

All the old lamps except the ceiling fans were replaced today, here one of them in action and switched off. Best of all in our corridor we also had a light installed. Now some touch up work is awaiting me or Dimitrije. It seems that some of the lamps were installed even before the house got painted.

After getting quiet expensive offers for bathroom renovation we decided to renovate the kitchen first and wait until spring with the bathrooms.

House Layout

Some people wanted to know the layout of our house. Thanks to Dimitrije we have now a floor plan. It's not true to scale but will help you to get an idea how we live now. The Al Fresco is the lowest level then it goes one step up into office/bar, one step up into family room and another step up to kitchen and the whole rest of the house. The entrance is between living room and Jana.
So far we haven't eaten inside, we always use our garden table and for chilling evenings we even installed a gas heater on it.

pink = doors
green = wardrobes

1st rooms to view

After two weeks of intensive unpacking and arranging I proudly show you 3 of our rooms, the others are not in a representative stage yet :-).

The heart of our daily life is our family room, two huge cupboards host all our toys, games and books. The three mats get used for yoga, gymnastics or movie sessions.

Jana is very proud of her room, it has a big cupboard and thanks to her Grossmami and aunt she also has plenty of cloths to put in. The sofas are foldable mattresses a space saving solution to allow Jana to dance in her room. In the three mirrors Jana can observe her moves very well, especially since the side ones can swing. Last but not least she finally she has a desk in her room.

Today one of the last missing objects arrived in our home, the billiard table. NiKo is totally fascinated and played already over an hour to try to put the balls in by hand. Dimitrije's hat collection also found space. Drilling 60 holes was quiet a task, but it's the result that counts...

Renovations started

In this week between settlement and move-in we try to get many things done. My major project is Jana's room but I will only post the pictures once it's done.

Here the pictures of Dimitrijes and my bedroom, with carpet and now with the new laminate:

I am thinking of painting the doors in brown, since I don't fancy the yellowish white, but this has to wait until the furnitures are in otherwise the movers will scratch the new color off.

At 3:30 pm I got the keys for the house and of course we couldn't resist to spend our first evening as proud home owner in our castle. It's an amazing feeling and we are all very happy!

House Payment Day

Today many Oz Dollars will change the owner, I will obtain the bank cheque at 8:30 and bring it to the settlement agent straight after that. This is the second last step of getting the house. Unbelievable exactly 2 Months ago we put in the offer for it.

A little later I will meet the fencing guy to get a quote for a front yard fence, since I want to protect NiKo and Jana of running into the street while playing.

1st big day regarding the house

Today is the day of the final inspection, which means the future owner goes through
the house and checks everything. Any problem should be mended by the current owner. Once they come to an agreement, the last and final step - THE SETTLEMENT - is due. In our case this should happen on March 23, 2012.

On the March 28 the new floors will be laid. The actual move date is as per today the March 31, funny moving company prefers Saturdays. But I would still aim for 28/29 March.

Time Flies in Perth

Wow, almost 2 weeks since my last post...

NiKo started to go to a day care center, the first day went well but after the second day he didn't want to return and on the third day I just dropped him for a short while. I was very released to hear that it went well again.

The finance and insurance for our house are ready, pest and building inspection didn't unveil anything concerning, so now we are waiting for final inspection on March 16th and settlement on March 23rd. We are starting to look around for the renovation companies. But now the most amazing thing, this morning someone here in Banksia caravan park told me, we are actually buying their house! Unbelievable, isn't it?? They are very happy, that our family moves in to their home.

Talking about coincident last Sunday we went to a winery in Swan Valley, there are about 50 of them and we met one of the few couples we know here in Perth. Seems we moved to a village.

Today the fourth week in our caravan is starting and we really used to it by now. Only very windy nights trouble Dimitrije and me a little, but we have many topics to discuss, so even those nights pass fast.

Enough writing now, let me show you some pictures:

My boys having an afternoon nap:

My really useful children doing the dishes, a rare sight:

Playdate of Jana and two of her new friends, Thiana and Cristal (sorry I am really bad in name spelling):

NiKo at Coles, proud trolley pusher, not seldom some additional items end up in there:

3rd day with over 38 degrees, many ice creams were consumed:

Move to Trailer completed

We moved to our trailer, it was a bit a hassle to put the tent up and we had to buy several things like foldable cupboard, shoe shelve, TV, floor mats, hot water dispenser and much more. Now I am almost happy with the setup.

Trailer with tent:

Meal table and foldable cupboard with ironing board and clock.

Lounge with TV, it has a built in DVD:

Dimitrije's and my bed:

In our ensuite bathroom, we find space for our cloths and the children suitcase are just great for that:

Our cloths are stored in a far less elegant manner and I have much more cloths than Dimi:
